Weekend story (2)

Once upon a time, there were a certain cat and a certain mouse. The mouse was afraid of the cat, and try to hide the cat once it knew the cat was around. Times after times, the mouse was tired, and did not hide anymore.

The End.

Couple on a bicycle

A couple on a mini bicycle, is it strange? I always carry my wife on her bicycle from home to bus stop, sometimes to supermarket. And people stare on us as if we are UFO, or they've never seen this before. Do they have the practice to carry another person behind on a bicycle? Once, there was a woman driving pass us, suddenly she slowed her car down, even stopped, in a middle of a desert street, just to show this phenomenon to her children sitting behind. I often see fathers, mothers carrying their children on their bicycles, but I rarely encounter any couples on a bicycle.

Bus stops at Clementi MRT

This is the MRT station we visit frequently. The one on McDonald side is more crowded and people are more friendly than those on the opposite side. We always wait for IMM shuttle bus at the former bus stop. This bus never comes on time according to the schedule. Recently, the newspaper and accessories stalls on both sides have been removed, passengers have more place to stand waiting for the bus, we have more space to cycle pass the crowded bus stop. Every time we cycle pass the latter bus stop, people always look at us with a lot of questions. They never give way for us. Although we ring our bell loudly enough that all other people can here, but the ones who stand in front of our bicycle never move. 98 out of 100 attempts.

FYI, the IMM-Clementi-Boonlay-Jurong East shuttle bus schedule is here:

Eating outside

Now eating outside is not a very big problem with us (now it's still a big problem, not "very" anymore). We even find delicious food somewhere. The problem now is to find a table to eat. In every crowded shopping center, it can take you some 10 minutes to find a table. And when you find one, your hunger is over. Available table is very rare on dining time (around 7pm), if you are alone, maybe eating while standing is your first choice, of course you can share a table with someone who is alone like you. However, the Kopitiam at IMM is not so crowded, empty tables are everywhere, food is good. Recommend for anyone who find it difficult to eat in Singapore.

Sport

My first victory ever! We won first set 6-4, lost second set 1-6 and won tie-break 7-5.

Football season is over, I don't miss it much. Tennis is just halfway. F1's just begun. The RG starts today. Last chance in the year for Rafael to dominate.

That's story this week. Hope you enjoy my story. Bye for now.

Phone number

posted under by lhnkhang
Yesterday I deleted a name+phone number on my hand phone.

I met him again last week since his departure, several months ago. Suddenly he came back, for 10 days. It's a surprise to see him again, so soon. I think maybe after several years we will meet but not now.

Anyway, suddenly he was there, sitting at his old temporary place, next to some oxygen tanks (that we usually call "bomb") and surfing the web. I came in to say hello, and knew that he came back to amend his thesis, some minor details that he told me he can do it online, but he chose to come back.

Is there anything behind?

Never mind.

I used to delete many numbers on my hand phone, but not the person that I was speaking to right there. The numbers I delete can belong to those who don't use theirs anymore, those who go and settle down abroad. So nothing important this time when I deleted his number. I should have done this several months before.

But I felt strange.

There are lots of people who use a new number everyday, and lots of numbers are lost everyday. I believe there numbers will never be used again. My wife also replaced her sim-cards three times. So they will disappear forever. These numbers are our IDs, once they are replaced, we have a new ID, new representative, and they are useless. Nobody remembers.

Never mind

I feel strange about these numbers once they lost.

I've gone too far...

Weekend story

An email costs 100USD plus.

This morning, I received such email and lost 100+USD. Look on the bright side, however, nothing comes for nothing. Hopefully MU will win this evening.

I felt asleep early today, at ... 5:00pm. I wanted to take a nap because under this situation, I couldn't watch two important events tonight; FA final and Hamburg Semifinal. I made an ice tea, and things are better.

Last friday, I accessed a hosting site by a recommendation. They have domain name on sale! I bought a couple of domain names for 0.99 USD each. Lời to.

Yesterday I had an interesting evening at IMM. The downside was the carrot cake. This was the second time in IMM I was cheated by the advertisement. The photo shows some nice and crispy pieces of carrot cake on a plate, in reality, I received a plat with soft, black thingy inside. It can not be compared with carrot cake in Vietnam. Only two places in Singapore I find acceptable food are in food court near Bouna Vista MRT, and NUS Art Canteen, but The Deck was down, and I've never visited that food court ever since.

Federer is vulnerable now. He also parted his part-time coach. In my point of view, he lacks of matches. He drops some non Master-Series events that he participated in some last years. He's not very confident on court as I used to see him be.

Yesterday I saw at World of Sport that my racket costs $300 plus. I can't believe the sale-off system here. Last time I bought it at $128, so it's REALLY sale-off.

However, it seems we never "gain" anything if we buy goods in buck. For example, 1 bag of 3kg Breeze, or Fab, or Top costs $6, and 1 bag of 5kg costs $10. So why do we have to buy bigger bag?

That's all for this week. Now I'm watching MU-Chelsea. Bye for now.

Art of pile

This morning, I made a terrible coffee. Only three spoons of coffee left. I put the milk on the microwave oven for two minutes. After two minutes, I poured the milk into the filtered coffee and tasted. I felt a terrible odour. The reason might be the microwave oven, as a lot of rubbish inside. The carelessness spoilt a morning.

Staffs in headquarter

posted under by lhnkhang
There are 7 staffs in my headquarter: a commander, a cute guy, a talkative guy, a silent guy, a big guy, a nice lady and another lady.

The commander is the one who stays very late at the station. He keeps control of all decision in the station. I don't know whether he's married, I hope he is, but he is at the station all the time, so I wonder how he can save his time for his family. On weekend, he always appears late, about 11:00pm, wearing shorts, wet hair (it means that he's just had a bath, that I can deduce that he lives near the station). I don't know at what time he comes to the station everyday.

The cute guy is the one that I find him cute. He always looks at me tenderly (or friendly, if you think 'tenderly' is too sexy). He doesn't talk to me much. He always hides himself in a remote room near the big scale and the fridge. Only on lunch time and off-office hour that I can see him appear after that room. I like him the most.

The talkative guy is the guy who talks to me most of the time I see him. Even I hide myself in my room, he breaks into the room and finds something to talk, although he talks most the time. This guy will visit Vietnam next month, and he asked us everything about HCMC. Not less than 5 times he asked me about Vietnamese currency, the exchange rate. I told him to go to Vietnam first and exchange the money, he didn't agree. Fine! Today, he happily told us that his wife finally exchanged 100sgd to VND, and she brought home a big bag full of 500 vnd and 10000vnd. He intends to spend 500.000vnd for gifts in Vietnam, and he thinks that's too much. The commander never wants to talk with him.

The silent guy is the one I talk less. He (and the nice lady) take care of everything less important that the commander doesn't. My wife said that this guy never does other things except work in office-hours (except going out for tea-break). Even he is free, he just sitting at his table paralyzingly even without reading a newspaper.

A big guy is another guy we did not like him at the beginning, but later on he shows his care about us and is helpful (in some extent). He is the one who consistently leaves the station at 11:30 pm everyday to catch the last tank, and the last ship. I was once told that he had an airplane, but he hasn't used it recently.

The nice lady is the one has the same power with the silent guy. She is nice, helpful and understanding. Maybe she doesn't know how to fly, as my wife often sees her husband or son waiting to pick her up after work in an airplane parking at the street besides the lift.

The last one is the biggest of all. We didn't like her much, as she seemed to have "national" behavior. Last week, she cared about my wife very much. She even gave me a new cup, and told me to take hot water in the headquarter. Hmm, we don't know what happens.

Last but not least, there is a couple that temporary occupies one of the room there. They never come there early, but always want to go home early. The lady always complains about electronic/electric devices, sometimes she sneezes. The gentleman always listens to her, without speaking, as he works non-stop with his computer (with internet connected).

That's all. If there's some more, I'll tell later. Now I have to sleep, as we go to school early tomorrow (I hope so).

MAN UTD - EPL Trophy Presentation 06-07

Video was removed due to content violation

I haven't watched this presentation until now. On that day, I fell asleep at second half of MU-Westham. After the match, ESPN only aired about 2 minutes of the presentation then it showed other matches' highlights at the same day.

Formula One 2007: The 4 horse race.

posted under by lhnkhang
The Formula 1 of 2007 season is thrill and unpredicted with three different victors in the first three races. No one is brave enough to say who is the champion with what has happened in the first three races.

Actually only 2 out of 11 F1 teams involve in the championship race: Ferrari and McLaren-Mercedes. Last season, the title race was between Ferrari and Renault, but the main driver of Renault moved to McLaren this season, so Renault is out of the championship race. Four horses this season are Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, Pelipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton.

No seasons were more interested than this one. The four divers continuously occupy four first starting positions in every race so far. 3 of them finished first in the first 3 races, with Kimi in Australia, Fernando in Malaysia, Felipe in Bahrain. And Lewis: he was in top three in the first 3 races.

In pre-season analysis, experts predicted that the championship title is between Kimi, Fernando and Felipe. Lewis is a newbie, and they thought he needed more time to adapt in the harshest and most prestige competition in sport. Lewis has proved how fast he can get acquainted with the race. With 3 finishes in top three, he only needs more races in order to have his first win ever.

As usual, Fernando performs steadily to prove why he is the reign champion of F1. Kimi is great, with the victory in the first race, that's why Ferrari team bought him to replace the great Michael Schumacher. Filipe improves since last season's move to Ferrari with two wins last season in Turkey and Brazil. He is in great form and has potential to dismiss Fernando this season. Lewis is phenomenal. He dominated F3 Euroseries with 15 wins in season of 2005, was champion of GP2 of 2006 season. He's now putting his first attempt on F1, and I'm sure he will be the champion of this race soon.

Simple

posted under by lhnkhang
I've found out recently that internet is really an attractive girl. This is a long story, I'll reveal when time comes.

Accidentally I know that KFC means Kentucky Fried Chicken. It's so simple! I used to think that KFC is Kentucky, and now it is confirmed.

Although I've had McDonald many times in NUS in my first year in Singapore, esp. on weekend, because the Terrace was closed on Saturday's evening and Sunday, I had to wait for over one year to taste the first KFC meal. That's time after my wife came to Singapore. From NUS, we crossed the Clementi Hill to visit West Coast area, and had the first ever KFC meal at Ginza Plaza. We had a bicycle at that time with a carry, which was stolen during the innovation of my block.

After that KFC meal, I always opted to choose KFC while my wife preferred McDonald. We were not familiar with food in NUS and we did not have the habit of dining out at that time, and unfortunately, there's no KFC in NUS, hence McDonald is the only place in NUS that we could spend our miserable and poor dinner time. That period was difficult. Although I did not detest the food in NUS, it was a big problem for my wife to eat happily. We tried many ways, even bringing our own food, but we did not have the mood of eating inside NUS.

Suddenly things have changed now. After some trips to Vietnam and some times cooking at home, we started to dine everywhere we can around Singapore. We finally find some good sides of Singapore food besides the bad opinions that we address to it conventionally every time a discussion about Singapore's food arisen.

It's not too hard to change a habit, after all.

Lost

Recently many people lose many things. At my block, a child lost her pet.

At school, a student lost his laptop.

At Fairprice, customers lost belief. This is obligated voluntariness. It was ridiculous when the sale assistant asked me whether I brought my own bag. Now I know, so that's fine.

Copyrighted number.

How can a number be censored? I guess you know this series of numbers: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42. This is a fictional series taken from Lost series (which now in its 3rd season). This is an important number (in the series), but unrealistic.

Which number is more important than the social security number? Recently I found another series of arbitrarily generated number, but copyrighted. It's a magic HD-DVD processing key used to decrypt and play most movies nowadays. This number's shaken the internet world recently and people keep talking about it. Want to find more, google for "HD-DVD number". Even in Flickr, there are many illustrations, humorously and seriously. Check them out here.

If it keeps raining like this...

posted under by lhnkhang
Every Saturday night, I prepare "eagerly" (according to my wife's remark) for the tennis session the next day. I have to "prepare" my "tools" on Saturday because I have to get up early on Sunday. When I get up early, I cannot prepare anything fast, because my mind is not "clear" at that time (it's still sleepy), and I often miss something. Usually I don't have much time to prepare, because I never get up too early, just earlier than normal. Also, the bus to university is rare on that day, and I have to catch a bus at a particular time (8:07am), if not, I have to wait for another 30mins.

Last Sunday, I suddenly woke up at 7:05. Getting out of the bed, I woke my wife up, because she planned to experiment on Sunday, and she wanted to go with me to the university. She told me it was raining. I approached to the window to confirm, and sadly it rained. It didn't rain accidentally on this day, but almost every day last week, it always rained in the night, kept going until morning.

Outside, it's now raining (c.f. Big big world), and it's 6:46am. I don't play tennis today, but listening the raindrops falling to the windows make me unhappy. Hope that it never rains on Sunday.
