Sinporans, Where Art Thou?

I was there on Saturday two or three weeks ago at National Stadium. The stadium was really empty. Guessed that Singaporeans prefered EPL than AFF Cups. How can they aim to WC2010 without supporting their local team? I was wrong. Last week's semi-final match between SG-Malay, the stadium was full. Hmm, think again. They like to watch their team on important match, or they could come to the stadium... for free, who knows, ha ha.

Laptop damaged!!!

My laptop is spoilt. Not as bad as that in the picture. One day after the presentation, the fan did not work, I threw it to the IBM service center at NUS. If you ever need to go there, avoid the 1-2:30pm time slot, because it's lunch time. By the way, I also asked them to check my battery and my LCD. Hope that they change the new ones. Why do IBM laptops always have problem with batteries and fans? Or maybe I let my laptops work really hard, then it degrades fast. Don't know when the harddisk spoils. Hope it does soon...

Singapore vs. Vietnam

posted under by lhnkhang

From Singapore Pools, Singapore has more winning percentage than Vietnam. This is a bit surprise to me. I bet it's a draw.

Here's a discussion between me and my wife:
"
- You give me 5$, in the end of the day, I'll bring back to you 15$!
- Really, are you sure?
- Sure.
- So I give you 50$
"
It's fun, at least to me. But I will not bet on this match.

NUS HEALTH SCREENING is fake

Recently I received a mail from NUS about a free health screening. I wanted to be some of early birds, so I registered immediately. Things happened. Neither I nor my friends could register. So, I sent an email to Sakina at wellness@nus.edu.sg to register manually. After two weeks, I haven't got a reply from her. Exhaustedly, I tried to register online several times, but error messages still appeared until today:

It seems that problems always get in my way. But this Sakina, she should have replied me before. How irresponsible a NUS staff is. Angry!!!

Is it funny?

Do you think the picture beside is funny? They are just separate sentences that my visitors left and I collected around Hollywood. This is not funny until tonight when my wife figured out
that the combination of these sentences makes me like a dumb!!! According to her deductions, every time somebody said something to me, I replied by a meaningless sentence. Figure out yourself. This website is here.

Internet Explorer is really sucked. I could not log in to Blogger just now to post this entry. I have Firefox, Opera and IE browsers on my laptop, and Firefox works great, Opera is adequate, IE is worst. Now I think IE can only be used for Windows Update. The new IE is even slower than a turtle. The new Firefox offers dictionary (like MS Word) and Google Search Suggestion. That's interesting.

Update: we set up Starhub Maxonline Wireless Internet today. It tooks over a week to clear administrative stuffs and to subcribe, but only 30 mins to set up the network. This subscription required lots of effort and time. In the end, we could save 31.5sgd activation fee. It's a long story, I will post the details should I have more time.

Xmas story (part 2)

posted under by lhnkhang
We took the bus from Lower Pierce Reservoir to Angmokio MRT. Lots of people were on the train at that time, and we really had to zip ourselves to fit in there. Luckily, we alighted at the next stop: Bishan.

This chinese restaurant is situated in Junction 8, Bishan MRT. Lots of people were waiting outside. Before this, I always find it ridiculous to make a long queue before being served. Even at some restaurants, they announced the minimum waiting time is 30 minutes, but people kept queuing patiently and tirelessly. In Vietnam, "Q"ing and waiting to be served never exist in our dictionary. Except very formal restaurant, we always come inside any restaurant and ask for a table easily. Fortunately, this time, we didn't queue, instead, we had the queue number, and we gathered and waited beside the gate. Notice the queue number, it was 214. Ours is 224. About 10 minutes later, they called in.

The food was delicious. It was really different from what we have to eat everyday at Singapore food courts :-). They served dim sum, wan ton, rice, soup, vegetable,... and tea. I liked the rice best.

Later, we went to Vivo city. The weather was not so good, and we were all tired.

We knew a small party was waiting for us at home...

Don't think that this photo was taken easily. It took great effort to cut and stitch!!!

That's the story how a friendly neighbor saved us a wet and poor Xmas.
